Real Madrid have completed the signing of Brazilian playmaker Kaka from AC Milan on a six-year contract.
The reported fee of around £ 56 million, which will be a new world record in pound sterling, surpasses the £ 45.6 million Real paid for Zinedine Zidane in 2001.
Kaka, 27, revealed he had joined a Spanish club to help Italy overcome their financial difficulties. Complete info visit LagaPoker
“I want to stay but the world crisis affects my decision,” he said. “I knew I would only leave Milan to play for Real.”
The attacking midfielder, speaking after undergoing a medical in Recife, where Brazil faces Paraguay in World Cup qualifiers on Wednesday, added: “I spoke with the Milan director and we came to the conclusion that the best thing for everyone is to sell.”
And he revealed that the deal had been in the pipeline for some time. “I have considered a lot of offers from Real Madrid,” he said. “This is an important project for me to continue to grow in my career. I’m not going to Real Madrid for money, because I have another offer.
“But that deal was sealed a long time ago. I want this move announced early. To me, it’s a relief that it’s announced now. ”
And the deal was sealed by the ambition to reinstate Real president Florentino Perez, who previously led the Spanish club from 2000 to 2006 – during the era of the infamous Galacticos.
“The president is already in contact with potential players and is putting together a competitive team, which will try to once again become champions in Spain and Europe,” continued Kaka.
“That’s why I chose Madrid. They already have historic players there, like Raul and Iker Casillas.
“That will be an important challenge for me. We will win many more titles. “
Kaka had the opportunity to join Manchester City earlier this year during the January transfer window for a reported £ 100million but chose to remain in Italy.
“Manchester City and Real Madrid are two different clubs with different situations,” he explained.
“At that time, it was the middle of the season, I had a strong emotional impact because the Italian fans asked me to stay and I decided to stay.
